Meet our skilled providers, Dr. Kevin Michels and Dr. Talmage Broadbent. Combining years of expertise with a compassionate, patient-focused approach, they lead our team at Northwest Eyelid in offering top-tier care.

Kevin Michels, MD

Dr. Michels currently maintains a full-time clinic practice and Ambulatory Surgical Center. Northwest Eyelid and Orbital Specialists, PS / NEOS Surgery Center is limited to the field of Oculoplastics located in Spokane, Washington. Dr. Michels received his medical degree with distinction from Oregon Health and Science University in Portland Oregon and was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He completed his internship within the Legacy Health System at Emanuel and Good Samaritan Hospitals in Portland, Oregon. He returned to Oregon Health and Science University to complete his ophthalmology residency at the Casey Eye Institute and was then selected to one of 15 available American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship programs.
He completed two extensive years as a fellow under the direction of Drs. Kenneth Cahill, Jill Foster, John Burns and Kelly Everman in Columbus, Ohio in associated with Ohio State University. During this time he performed and participated in over 4,000 surgical cases. Dr. Michels was awarded Fellow of the Year within the Ophthalmology Department at the Ohio State University where he was a Clinical Assistant Professor.
Dr. Michels is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He was accepted into the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) and was inducted in 2011. He has authored several publications in peer-reviewed journals and has delivered numerous educational lectures within the Department of Ophthalmology as well as other departments at Ohio State University.
Dr. Michels grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington. He enjoys spending time with his wife and two children as well as fly fishing, skiing and biking.

Talmage Broadbent, MD

Dr. Broadbent grew up in Provo Utah where he attended Brigham Young University. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Neuroscience. He then completed a combined MD/PhD, medical scientist training program at the University of Utah. Following medical school, he and his family moved to Newport News Virginia for his year of medical internship and then on to Vanderbilt in Nashville Tennessee for ophthalmology residency. He was accepted into an American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship programs in Minnesota. He spent one year training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota and an additional year at the University of Minnesota. Following fellowship Dr. Broadbent joined Northwest Eyelid and Orbital Specialists in 2017. Dr. Broadbent has authored multiple peer reviewed scientific publications and invited ophthalmology reviews.

He has given educational lectures and presented at scientific meetings across the country. He strives to provide personalized and compassionate care to all his patients whether they have medical or cosmetic concerns.

He and his wife have four energetic children and they enjoy camping, hiking, and spending time at home together.
