Ptosis Repair

We’re dedicated to correcting drooping eyelids that can interfere with vision and appearance. Our skilled team uses advanced techniques to restore the natural position of your eyelids, enhancing your vision and facial aesthetics.

What is Ptosis (Drooping Eyelid) Repair

Ptosis Repair is a surgical procedure intended to correct a condition known as ptosis, or drooping eyelids. This can occur due to age, injury, or certain medical conditions, and results in the sagging of one or both eyelids. The surgery aims to raise the upper eyelids to their normal position, improving vision and achieving a more alert and youthful appearance.

The Procedure

Generally, Ptosis Repair is performed as an outpatient procedure under local anesthesia and IV sedation. During the surgery, the surgeon makes a small incision in the natural crease of the upper eyelid. Then, they tighten the muscles that lift the eyelid. After the procedure, the incision is closed with sutures.

Benefits

Ptosis Repair offers both functional and aesthetic benefits. From a functional perspective, correcting drooping eyelids can significantly improve peripheral vision and reduce headaches associated with eye strain. Aesthetically, ptosis repair can lead to a more youthful, energetic facial appearance and improved self-esteem.

Alternatives

For those who may not be ready or suitable for surgery, alternatives exist. Nonsurgical treatments, such as the use of special glasses that can help prop up the eyelid, may be an option. However, these solutions are often temporary. It’s important to discuss with your doctor the best treatment approach for your specific case.

We urge patients to discuss any concerns with their surgeon, to ensure peace of mind prior to proceeding with surgery.
